If President Donald Trump wants to build a wall between the United States and Mexico, he can use his own personal funds for that. He has the money.
And when the wall is completed, like the Great Wall of China, he can name his wall, The Great Wall of Trump.

On March 17, my husband and I had just finished lunch in front of Island Naturals in the Hilo Shopping Center.
As we left to go to the car, my husband said he was dizzy and had to sit down again. Suddenly, he vomited and looked like he was having a stroke.
There were thee kind people who came to the rescue. First, a nice lady offered him aspirin and water. Next, a kind man offered to say prayers for him. Then, an off-duty police officer called 911 and stayed with us until the ambulance arrived.
I was so concerned about my husband that I don’t recall if I thanked these kind people. Hopefully, they will read this mahalo and know that their actions were truly appreciated. My husband recovered and didn’t have any permanent brain injury.

Slow down!
On April 1, I headed to Costco with a friend who lives in Volcano. Her brother was involved in a crash at the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park entrance a couple of hours earlier. A tourist failed to yield. All parties were banged up; his car was totaled.
As I drove the twisty road between Milolii and Kealakekua, where the speed limit is 35, we were overtaken six times! Five were rental cars and all passed on a double-yellow centerline. I was driving 35-40 mph.
Later, after dropping our friend home, my son wanted to go into the park to the Halema‘uma‘u overlook. It was about 8:30 p.m. Approaching the park entrance, we see blue lights and park rangers partially blocking the road. Another crash at the park entrance.
Slow down, people. I’ve seen tourists driving down Kalapana way, passing in no-passing zones, probably close to 80 mph. I saw a rental car drive from Painted Church all the way down Highway 130 on the right shoulder! As a cyclist, that really frightened me.
I shared these stories with friends and they all told of similar events they witnessed, most involving unsafe passing over double-yellow lines.
Please slow down, folks. Rental car companies, please remind drivers to be respectful and drive with aloha.
